Well, it's been a while since I posted my current weight so I thought I would post an update. Things have been slow in the last month or so due to things like a trip to New Jersey to see my dad (where I indulged in Burger King fries and Dairy Queen shakes while driving), a trip to Portland for the OSCON conference and a trip to San Francisco for the Oracle OpenWorld conference (plenty of bad food choices - especially when breakfasts consisted of nothing but muffins, doughnuts and pastries).


Anyway, I managed to endure all of it and still come out ahead.

Starting Weight: 257

Current Weight: 219

Target Weight: 225

Since I have passed my goal, I am now ready to slow things down a bit. My new goal is to start working out more with weights instead of just cardio, and get to 210-215 through the upcoming holidays.

Closing in on my original goal

I am quickly closing in on my original target weight. As of right now, I am thinking that I would still like to lose another 10-12 pounds. This isn't as urgent for me though as a I feel pretty good about my current weight. I would have no problem if it took me another 6 months or so to get to that point as long as I am going in the right direction.

Oh yeah, the pain in my calf muscle seems to be back, I ran yesterday without any real pain but later that night I could feel it bothering me. I guess I will take it easy for a day or so to see it is still bothering me.

Weekly Diet Update - Back on track

I think I am getting back on track. I managed to drop a few pounds since my last update and even more importantly, I have been able to start exercising again. I was able to run on the treadmill with no real pain in my right calf, I plan to ease back into it though just to be safe.

Weekly Diet Update

I am a little late on this update, I was out of town for a week in Portland attending the OSCON 2005 conference. It has been dificult to make any progress as I feel obligated to have a few beers when I am out of town with co-workers while attending vendor parties.

Anyway, I haven't lost any weight since the last update. This is only partly due to the week long trip to Portland. It has more to do with pulling a calf muscle from 3 or 4 weeks ago that has prevented me form being able to do any kind of running. Frankly, I am just happy that I haven't gained back any weight.

I am starting to reconsider my target weight.. I am happy with my results but maybe my original goal was hedged a little bit by my skeptisism on well this would work..

South Beach Diet: Phase 1 complete

Phase 1 is complete. I have managed to lose 10 pounds so far despite all of the temptations at home such as homemade chocolate chip cookies, brownies and pizza.

I guess I need to read up on what I can add back to my diet now. I have a feeling it will be things I have already added back in ;-).
